| Small problem with new corsair mem I recently bought 256 ddr333 corsair xms memory from newegg. It said it was cl2, but when i installed it the bios recognized it as cl2.5. If i manually change the cl2 to cl2.5 is that considered overclocking? I'm new to overclocking but would this do any real damage like freeze my system? The product number isCMX256A-2700C2PT. |

| Memory timings Should not be an issue. I have Mushkin 3500 and reset from 2.5 to 2. The only thing I notice is improved performance. If it is a problem, you will notice, as the system will act funny, i.e., spontaneous reboots.

| You aren't altering the clock frequency so it wouldn't be overclocking.... Tweaking maybe? Try a system utility like AIDA32 to read the SPD off your memory and see what the ratings are. In AIDA32 3.7 it's in the motherboard section under SPD. Here is what I get from my trusty old Samsung PC2700 Memory Module Properties Module Name MPMC22D-383 Serial Number None Module Size 512 MB (2 rows, 4 banks) Module Type Unbuffered Memory Type DDR SDRAM Memory Speed PC2700 (166 MHz) Module Width 64 bit Module Voltage SSTL 2.5 Error Detection Method None Refresh Rate Reduced (7.8 us), Self-Refresh Highest CAS Latency 2.5 (6.0 ns @ 166 MHz) 2nd Highest CAS Latency 2.0 (7.5 ns @ 133 MHz) Runs fine at 400MHz (PC3200) 2.6 volts 2.5/7/7/3 timings.
