| Stick with 1gig high quality or add 2x256 value ram Okay, in my 2nd or 3rd rig which I am not using I have 2x256 DDR400 valueram just sitting there. I know it is better go 2x1024 or 2x512 and leave it at since you can use 1T but I was just wondering if the increase in RAM would outweigh some performance hit I would get putting in this generic samsum RAM..? Right now I have 2x512 of TWINX1024-3200C2 (or LL I forgot). And obviously the main purpose would be to get a bit more to run games. Especially FEAR is killing my current system with all the paging that is going on.

| Since that u don't oc there's not a single timing option that will give u better real world performance than the addition of 512MB. In my opinion go for it. At least try to see how it goes...

| Yeah, I figured as much... Like I mentioned it seams FEAR is extremely memory hungry and even with my system it is choppy and paging like crazy. I'll add them RAM and see how it goes. I'll let you know.

| Fear is so much mem hungry. It uses about 1.2gb of mem. I'm definately that u'll experience a whole new game... Tell me how it goes.

| Well... it didn't work... apparently the RAM is different specs.... too different... At boot it showed operating at 200mhz and I got no video... so i cleared the CMOS and got rid of it... That crucial ballistix kit is looking more interesting each day.... But hey: Right now I'm having fun playing half life 2 again at max settings and 85+ fps! ![]()

| After I installed BF2, I realized the days of 1 GB memory being more than enough are all over.

| Sorry to hear that it didn't work for u. If u definately want to upgrade to 2gig (and since that u aren't a vivid oc'er) then in my opinion go for something more mainstream. Note that a cheaper part allways pays u better than a top notch one when u'll decide to sell it. However if u aren't going to play BF2 and Fear for a lot time stick with your 1gig and invest to DDR2 by the time it reaches AMD. It all depends on what u do with your machine and how much money u want to spend on it...
