Question Twinmos with Winbond safe at 2.8V?

Hi

Ever since i upgraded to a 2.8Ghz P4C i have had trouble running my Twinmos 2x512mb PC3200 (Winbond chips) stable at 200Mhzwith PAT enabled in my IS7 motherboard. I have done lots of testing and slowly increased the DDR voltage to the maximum 2.8V until it is now stable.

My question is, is it safe to run the memory continuously at this voltage? My case is fairly well ventilated (Two rear extraction fans + Emermax PSU) but memory is stock with no heat spreaders. Is anyone else been running their Twinmos at or above this voltage for any length of time?

Many thanks,
Neil

Anything up to 2.85v is safe. For more than 2.85v u need good cooling in your case.

Thanks for your replies guys. I think i'll invest in some Akasa copper heat spreaders just to be on the safe side though. Anyone else using these?

Cheers

I visit quite a lot xtremesystems and i know quite a few ppl running at 3.2v for sometime but i never recommend something that may cause a prob with someone else's hw. The reason is that i don't know his knowledge about computers, his temp conditions and his financial status.
For me, that's another story...

What memory timings are you using? At 2.5-3-3-5-8 they should be error free at 2.65 volts. I remember before running them on tighter settings and that required me running up the volts to 2.9 before they ran error free with memtest86.

Thanks again everyone for replies. Conan - with memory @200Mhz and timings set at SPD (2.5,3,3,8) everything was stable @2.6V.
As soon as i tried turning on PAT (not GAT) all i got was crashes and lockups. Eventually with memory voltage at 2.8V , everything was perfectly stable with PAT enabled, so much so that i've been able to tighten timings to 2,3,2,7 and still be fully stable.
