| I just recieved new cusl2 mobo from Asus through RMA. Took close to a month but got a new mobo working perfectly. I've been building computers for years so I cannot believe the problems that I'm having. I installed Two reliable Micron PC133 256mb Modules in Dimm1 and Dimm2. When installing windows 98SE and Millenium, I get friggin blue screen vxd error, no mouse, freezing, etc... I took out one of the module and it installed perfectly, currently running 256mb DIMM1 slot used. when I install two module it would crash, unstable errors, windows protection error and so on. Someone please help me out! I cannot believe how picky ASUS CUSL2 is!!! |

| I just returned 2 sticks of Micron PC-133 256mb modules this morning. I don't think Asus is to blame. I think theirs a lot of junk generic Memory out there. But, what do I know. Not that much. LOL See my post, (Can't get 512mb. to work) for the part number on the Chips I had. I stopped at another shop on my way home and they had the identical part#s. I wouldn't have taken it for free. Those Micron 256mb PC-133 Chips are from HELL. Jack |

| guys - i had a problem with micron RAM too..cept it was really my problem.. the two sticks of 256MB CAS@ were registered DIMMS. the 815 chip does not like registered dimms double check the part #'s and make sure it is un buffered ram you ahve got.. the only other options would be to experiment with the driving mode, and bank policies in chipset configuration in the bios never know, might help cryogen

| If you want micron chips, buy crucial because it's made from the same company that makes the chips.

| I had the same problem with two Micron's in my CUSL2-C board. Also tried a NCP 512 MB dimm, it would only read it as 256 MB, I put it in my Abit KT7 and it worked at 512 MB just fine. Anyways I took my Micron and got two Toshiba 256 MB dimms and they work perfectly on the CUSL2-C E |

| I will never buy generic SDRAm anymore. If you are looking for Micron, it is better to get Crucial that has a long good reputation. Branded SDRAM is about the same price as the Generic one, nowadays.

| CD_PRO, I believe I've got the same problems that you had. I bought a CUSL2-C a couple of weeks ago and I had problems getting (2) 128-MB Crucial DIMM's to work properly. However, I am almost certain it is a problem with the board rather than the memory. I'll try not to bore you with the details but here I go. *Both of the Crucial DIMM's work perfectly in a CUSL2 that I bought late last year. They will actually run 2-2-2-7/9 at 155 FSB without a problem whatsoever and I even tried them at CAS 2 at 160 FSB and they worked fairly well although IE 5.5 gave some occasional errors. Also, this is actually running both DIMM's at the same time. *I tried the same memory in a brand new CUSL2-C and got all kinds of errors like you described. Got VXD errors, illegal operations, Windows protection errors while booting, etc. The memory seemed to work a lot better when I used just 1 DIMM. I tried both sticks in all sorts of combinations and I was finally able to get both sticks running fairly realiable at 155 FSB at 2-2-2-7/9. *I believe the problem is with the actual DIMM slots. On the original CUSL2 the memory slides into the DIMM slot and I hear a pleasant sounding snap once the memory is securely seated. On the new CUSL2-C, I hear an upleasant crunching sound when I securely seat the memory. I compared the DIMM slots and they definitely do use a different style. I have a feeling that the memory may not be making proper contact in the DIMM slot. *I'm kind of on the fence on whether I should try to return the board or not. It seems to be working OK now but I think I just got lucky when I seated the memory. The reseller would probably give me a hard time because they don't seem to be overclocking friendly. I might just try to return the board to ASUS. Any ideas on this. |

| Had the same problem, Micron's or Infeion's didn't work together in pairs. Replaced them with 2 x 256 MB Toshiba's and it works great ! |
