| Upgrade memory: give me opinions ppls :) I'm interested in upgrading my 512mb of ram to 1gb ram early next month. I currently have 2*256mb corsair xms pc3500 running at the defualt 400mhz at cas 2,2,2,5 (using 5:4 multiplier on an asus p4c800 dx, p4 at 250mhz fsb) I have 2 upgrade paths: 1. Buy another 2 sticks of 256mb corsair xms pc3500 which would end up in my pc having 4*256mb sticks 2. Throw the corsair away and buy 2 sticks of adata pc4000 (ddr500) cas3 My questions are: 1. Would i still be able to keep by overclock with 4 sticks of corsair? 2. I heared 4 sticks in a canterwood is faster? 3. Is it true PAT is disabled when overclocking with 4 sticks of ram? Thanks for any replies Anthony |

2. Your 256mb sticks are single sided (SS). On the Intel chart on their website, 2 DS are faster than 2 SS. 4 SS will not be as fast as 2 SS or 2 DS. If you have the option, I'd sell the Corsair and buy either 2 X 512mb (DS) of Corsair or whatever brand floats yer boat. 3. I have not seen many people posting with 4 sticks that have tested to verify PAT with 4 sticks. However, if you believe Intel, there is no way to manually disable PAT on a Canterwood board, And, I am still suspicious of the utilities that claim to diagnose PAT status. Good luck, Mike.
