| Upgraded-now runs slower-Help Hi, I have what I hope is a simple question for a bunch of knowledgeable guys. I just upgraded my motherboard , memory, CPU, and power supply with hopes of speeding up my system. I do a lot of 3D rendering, Photoshop etc. I ran some benchmark tests in LightWave and my system seems to be slower now than it was before. Examples- a 3.7 sec render now takes 5.4 sec, a 385 sec render now takes 757 sec. Any ideas on what could cause this? Old hardware: Gigabyte GA-8SG667 motherboard Corsair memory-1GB 3200 P4 2.53 processor Antec power supply 400W New hardware: Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard Corsair TWIN2X1024-5400C4 1GB Kit DDR2-667 Intel PentiumŪ 4 640 Processor Prescott 3.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, Socket 775, 2MB Cache Thermaltake W0014 Silent PurePower 480W Thanks for any help, Matt |

| Was it a clean install of Windows? Did you install the ide drivers from the motherboard CD? Accessories, System Tools, System Information: Is Windows detecting the correct processor speed? Which video card are you using?

| Windows 2000? If you have Hyperthreading turned on, turn it off. Windows 2000 does not support HT. You would have been better off with a dual-core Intel proc which 2000 could support. Photoshop would have loved that dual-core as well. |

| Well I did have 1 module in the wrong slot-I can't believe I did that. I turned off hyperthreading too. Both suggestions helped considerably. I can beat all previous render times now. I have also decided to install WinXP. Thanks for the help! |
