Btw eva, how have your endless piles of memory testing been going ? Find any new secrets these days? Things at BE forums have been a bit quite these days. O and i bet you cant wait to get your hands on the prommy that is on its way to you Good luck with that and have fun with it. I personally was seriously thinking about gettin the prommy machII also but i have a lian li pc70 case and the dam lian li mod for the prommy will not fit under my case and nor will the mounting mechanism reach that high So, i will wait till chip-con makes modifications for it. Hopefuly that will be soon.

So, like, what conclusions can I draw from these posts?

I am still uncertain of what to do.

Re: What is the best RAM for 231 MHz FSB (DDR 462) with as low latencies as possible?

This is not yet possible at DDR 462, right?

If I want to run one of the "Game" options in my
IC7 BIOS, can I use for example OCZ PC3700 Gold sticks?

Like the "Streetracer" option which sets the latencies to 2-3-2-5?

The thing is, I have a 2.6C which I want to run
at 3.0 at 1:1 settings, this means 231 MHz FSB.

So can the OCZ PC3700 Gold do Streetracer at DDR462? Not likely, huh?

The IC7 BIOS can provide VRAM up to 2.8V.

Thanks for any suggestions!
Well Cold Generation, IMO with your setup and the processor your are using, either ocz gold pc3700 2x256 or mushkin LII pc3500 should do the job. But if you read from johnrr6 post, he states that the timings were not that tite. From my experience I would go with the ocz gold pc3700 at this point because you can probably get pretty decent timings (2,3,3,6/7) at the speed you are aiming for and at the minimum you can probably use GAT at Turbo and if you are blessed with really good sticks probably Street Car or F1. But, if you get sticks that do not perform up to specs you can talk to ocz customer support and I am sure they can test you sticks that will those specs on your mobo. So try them out and I am sure you will be pleased. Btw, I set all my memory latencies manually in the bios and even if I change GAT, the latencies are not automatically changed by the bios, does yours?

Thanks for your reply!

It seems that the OCZ PC3700 is the way to go. I have to import
them though, probably from the UK, since no one is selling them
here in Norway. So it`s a buy-and-hope-to-be-pleased situation.

I am not quite sure what you ask me, but if I set the latencies
manually, any GAT will override them. I think I have BIOS 1.5
now, I haven`t bothered using 1.6 or 1.7 since none of those
versions fix the CH-5 problem (Yes, I use Twinmos PC3200 with
Winbond CH-5 chips).

What I meant was if you set your latencies manually in the bios and you set GAT to anything other then auto does the bios automatically change the latency numbers from what you had them set to?

Manual Latencies---no GAT override

If I set my latencies manually----that is what they stay at----GAT will not override them-----most of the time.

It's weird----sometimes it does override----going between Street Racer and Turbo

Turbo loosens them and Street Racer Tightens them.

But most of the time----it leaves them to what I have set.

Strange

John

Yes, as I wrote in my previous post, any GAT will override them.

Is that as far as the 2.6C will go? Most that I have seen will go to ~ 3.3 - 3.4 GHz. Any reason you are limiting the CPU speed?

It will at least go to 3304, but I just don`t want to push it that high.

I have figured that 3 GHz is nice, and a 231 MHz FSB is faster
than 200, so...
