| Specs: CUSL2-C P3800EB Maxtor 30.7gb HD (53073H6) Sblive Value 3Com 3c590c Nic 50x CD 4x Mat****a CD-R ScSI Adaptec SCSI adapter W2K Professional SP1 WinME OEM I have PC100 ram, left over from my old system (just couldnt afford more ram). Its 128mb, but I can tell my system is pretty bottlenecked. I need more ram anyway, since I do alot of graphic work (Maya, 3dsmax, Photoshop) etc. I can afford about 256mb right now, *maybe* 2 sticks if the price is right. Since I dont overclock, whats the BEST brand (please be specific, i.e. model/type etc), of ram I can get for this CUSL2-C system? Corsair? Crucial? |

| Dude, to spend your money wisely, goto to http://www.mushkin.com and purchse the PC-133 Rev. 3 chips. They are the best memory out there, and if you ever decide to overclock, they'll work for ya! |

| If you don't overclock, Crucial PC133CL2 256MB is the best, cheap and high quality. http://www.crucial.com/store/PartSpe...e=CT32M64S4D7E |

| Mushkin 256 rev2, mine will run 166 FSB, 222. The rev3 is a rev2 with half the chips taken off! One reason I prefer the 256 rev2. Anyhow Mushkin is the best!

| Rev 2 & Rev 3 have the same amount of chips. I have 2 128MB sticks of each. The only differnce, other than the stickers is the Rev 2 use Mosel Vital chips, and the Rev 3 are using Infenion chips. I can run both at the same speeds, up to 160FSB at 2-2-2, but the Rev 3's are slightly faster in all the benchmarks. Only by a few points. Still, for the money, spend it on quality, Mushkin. |

| Hawk, you need to visit the Mushkin Web site, and up-date your info on Mushkin memory! My Mushkin 256 rev2 has 16 chips of Infineon. Mushkin rev3 has 8 chips of Infineon! Thus 1/2 the chips of the 256 rev2 stick. [Edited by Skull on 03-13-2001 at 12:09 AM]

| Hmm, looks like Mushkin it is. How about this: http://www.mushkin.com/cgi-bin/Mushk...roducts/990496 If the URL dun work, Its the 256mb High Performance REV2 PC133 222 for $150. Is this good? Or should I go for that 167$ one? Whats the real difference?

| if you want to save about $50-60 per 256MB go for Corsair. It's just about the same perf., and cheaper. I know mushkin rules, but if you dont want to spend $167 per 256MB, I say Corsair. |

| Skull, Very interesting, I have two 128MB Rev. 2 chips with the Mosel Vital chips on them. They are identical to my Rev. 3's that have the Infenion. I guess it all depends on the batch of kicking RAM they have. Awsome to say the least. |

| Joe, I like the one stick 256 rev2. the perfornance is great, also leaves you room to up-grade. But that is a great buy. My opinion for what its worth!

| The mushkin rev2 128 MB chips use Mosel chips. The rev2 256 MB chips use Infineon as do the rev3 128MB. Skull is absolutely correct about the rev3 being 1/2 of the rev2 256MB. The reason the rev3 came into being is that with single sided ram, it tends to run more stable as higher bus speeds. This means that you can overclock and still remain at the lower latency settings of 2. (in theory) The rev3 chips are guaranteed to run at 150Mhz CL2, while the rev2 are guaranteed to run 133Mhz CL2. (I know they run allot faster than this) I currently run a 256MB Kingmax pc150 and I am only able to run stable as CL2 with a 140Mhz fsb. Since these chips are rated at CL3 150Mhz (and they do work at that), I think this is OK for now. The difference in the bandwith from CL2 to CL3 is enough to warrent running at 140 - CL2. I personally just ordered 2 128Mb strips of rev3. Should be here today or tomorrow... can't wait. |

| I just got a stick of 256 MB CAS2 Micron PC133 it's excellent RAM and alot cheaper than Mushkin on the other hand I also have a stick of Mushkin and it actually made my computer more stable overall even at stock speeds upgrading the RAM to a brand like Mushkin from a Generic P.O.S. the only thing tho. if you aren't overclocking buy Micron. even if you are it's good.. but Mushkin is probably better overall.. but at a higher price... it makes it hard to chose basically: overclocking = Mushkin, light overclocking/non-overclocked = Micron Muskin = more money Micron = less money it's yer choice
