Will the real mem speed please stand up? DDR500 @CAS2!?

How is everyone today?

Please have a look at the screenshot and tell me what you think.

Based on these settings:
P4P800dx
P4 1.6A with fsb=133 in bios and set to 150 with setfsb
Memory Acceleration Mode: Enabled
Performance Mode: Standard
OCZ PC3500EL @2-3-2-5

CPU-Z shows the 1:1 setting that comes with PAT being enabled
SetFSB is showing DDR400 (would be applying a 3:4 ratio
Sandra is showing DDR500 (would be 3:5) at CAS2

Please comment.
Cheers!

Hi eva2000

I'm still kind of a noob but I really don't know if this is the bios. I'm still using 1007 to which I am applying the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" policy. This bios has worked well for me so far. I don't even get the Memtest errors that supposedly required the fix included in 1008.

I am thinking its software related because I have seen where people are saying that different software is reporting different things where PAT/MAM is concerned.

No more takers on this one? I know it has me baffled.

I'm curious as to whether or not an actual fsb:mem ratio that is not available as a BIOS setting is being applied by PAT/MAM. It does seem strange that the speeds reported by SetFSB and Sandra are exact ratios (3:4 and 3:5, respectively) although it seems improbable (especially with the Sandra score) that my ram is actually running at that speed at those timings. Maybe there is something funky going on because I'm not running a 800fsb processor.

I was hoping Bigtoe might have a comment since I was kind of inspired to look into this PAT on p4p800 stuff by his thread on the subject. Oh well, I'm sure he has many things to do just as we all do. No worries!

Perhaps I'll just write to SiSoftware and see if I can find something out straight from the horse's mouth.

Cheers
MZ

Why does setfsb show P4C800? Your system at the bottom of the page shows P4P800.
very strange indeed.

Hi butcher

For setfsb, the same download for the p4c800 was also for the p4p800.

Using CPU-Z 1.19, it reports a FSB:dRAM ratio of 3:4. This agrees with what is shown in setfsb. So this acceleration of the memory appears to exist as 3:4 for a processor set at 133fsb in bios. This is nice for people who are running 'A' or 'B' P4s on their p4p800 since they may be able to get a little more out of their memory. In my case, I can run my memory at DDR400 instead of DDR375 while I wait to upgrade to a P4 C.

Cheers
