Cleaning method for anti-glare monitor screen

I use a Viewsonic G90FB monitor which came with an anti-glare film coating. This monitor is only 2 months old and the screen has a mottled appeareance like fingerprints all over the screen that no ammount of cleaning seem to cure. The screen is perfectly flat, I've tried a plain, soft, dry cloth, or the same but slightly dampened with just water and didn't help. Then I tried using a window glass cleaner that I already had in household and sprayed slightly on a dry cloth and drawing it back and forth horizontally and vertically, then cleaning after with another soft, dry, cloth. This method seems to make my screen appeareance worse then it was before because I think it smeared the coat of the antiglare screen and now it looks more splotchy. Everything I've read, including the Viewsonic monitor guide, states not to use alcahol, ammonia products or anything abbresive like windex, but that is what I am about ready to do, i.e., remove the anti-glare film altogether. I figure if I can get it back down to a bare glass screen with Windex or some product like Windex, or I'll be crazy enough to try petrol which I heard also that is very corrosive, the screen's appearance would be better than it is now. I even thought about taking the monitor apart and remove the anti-glare screen and replace it with another one or just use bare glass. Anyone successfully tried this approach?
Any comments or recommendations would be truly appreciated. My thanks in advance for suggestions.

Hey! Take it easy! You're about to destry it?

What i do, is wash my hands very well, then i put some soap on them (while still wet) and carefully move your hand over the screen. Then, with a slightly dampened cloth, take it all off.

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

You can normally find this product at an Apple Computer store. It was strange to step into an Apple store for a product that is x86.

This is one of the best products for LCD monitors so I would suspect it would be very good for CRT monitors.
