Installed Network Printer, Where's driver saved?

I've been installing a network printer on multiple machines. We've been experiencing a delay issue when printing, and our printer vendor is saying it's a network issue because the driver isn't installed locally.

If I install a network printer, and the drivers are stored on the server, where is the printer's driver stored for an individual machine to access? Is it not local? Thank you.

It sounds like you've installed a network printer as network shared printer shared off a print server off the lan.

When you install the local print drivers the printer acts like a dedicated printer and the print drivers are installed on each local system.

The driver software for install purposes can be stored on the server but each system has to have the print driver installed in order for each system to have access to the printer almost as a dedicated resource rather than a shared resources.

I decided to delete all the printers. Delete the drivers from the Drivers tab in the server properties of the Printers and Faxes folder.

I then reinstalled the printer using a driver CD, and installed it as local printer, using a TCP/IP port (since it's a network printer).

I'm still getting the delay issue. oh well.

What brand of printer is it. I have Konica Minolta Color laser setup using an IP address and it works fine.

When you say delay how long?

The only time I encounter a delay is when I am using a wirelss laptop and printing from it. It's no big deal for the convenience of printing wireless.
