Problem with power supply not booting Abit KG7 Raid Mobo

I'm putting together a system composed of old and new components for a a friend of mine and am stuck with a power/boot issue I can't seem to resolve. I am using a new mid-tower Antec case with Antec 300W power supply and my old Abit KG7 Raid Mobo. The problem is that I can only boot the computer with the power switch on the back of the computer. The front power switch only powers up the fans but no hard-drive or boot. I've double checked the power-on switch according to the diagram in the mobo book and it is correct. What could be causing this curious problem? Could it be a bios issue? I have built several systems but this one has got me stumped.

Here's an update on my power problem:

I've switched power supplies, but it still will not boot. I've double-checked all power switch/power on connections and they are correct. I can't help but think this is a bios issue because this board (Abit KG7 raid) worked perfectly in my old case.

Anyone have any ideas?

I guess I'm alone on this particular thread.

I finally figured out what the power problem was. Thinking that it
might be a bios problem, I double-checked all of my entries and discovered that I had incorrectly set my AMD Cpu at 1800 when it was in fact running at 2100 (FBS 133). I did this initially because 1800 was the speed on my old computer. When I switched the CPU to 2100 and saved the computer booted up perfectly. I turned everything off and started cold using the front power switch and it worked like a charm. It seems that there wasn't enough voltage at the 1800 setting for the CPU to boot. The moral of the story is to check all of your settings to make sure they are accurate.

I'd like to thank rgrove for all the help you've given me on this post.

Re: Problem with power supply not booting Abit KG7 Raid Mobo

Right now, I have the same problem as yourself.

The only reason I came on here is to say thank you for posting your answer on the forum for other people to benefit from.

As normally people are quick to state their problem and then they fix their problem but never post on the forum wheather the problem was fixed not but I can confirm this was also my problem and because of your help I have now fixed the problem.

Thank you rgrove
