Testing a parallel cable for bi-directional

Hey all... I need to test a parallel cable to make sure its bidirectional. (its not lableled)

I'm using the PP cable to hook up a DIY CNC machine, and I'm not getting any signalling from the system...
I either have something wired wrong, a setting not correct, or the cable is not bi-directional.
I've double checked everything, and can't quite figure it out, figuring it maybe the cable.

Thanks!

P.S. its a RS232c 25 pin male to male cable.

Re: Testing a parallel cable for bi-directional

Could be that you have to change the parallel port mode setting in the bios, to be compatible with the external device. The bios should offer you settings of ECP, EPP, etc. Try each one.

Regards,
