Re: vonage

After signing up for VOIP services, most people consolidate all their phones into a single wireless phone system that allows multiple handsets. This only uses one RJ-11 jack on the phone adapter for the base station to connect to and the other handsets simply connect wirelessly to the base station. I use the Panasonic KX-TG5422M with my Vonage account and have had no problems.

Re: vonage

I wired my vonage modem right into the main phone box of the house. House has like 8 phone jacks. Run a wire from the modem to the main terminal in the phone box.

Re: vonage

The advice about wireless extensions is okay. I have that setup here. I want to think that the wired type also suggested will work.

thats what I did as well. I simply unplugged the cable from the telco at the box, and then ran a splitter off at the output of the Vonage router. One end went to my telephone, the other end went to the closes phone jack. I have 4 jacks in my house, and they all work from that one connection.

I don't think you need to cut any wires. SRTDodge had it right.

Just run a phone cord from the Vonage modem to a phone jack. Somewhere outside the house should be a network interface where you are still connected to the phone company. Unplug that first. There is no need to run a wire all the way back to that main phone box.

The only reason you would need a splitter is if you want to still use that phone jack.

Re: vonage

I got a 100ft phone wire and i put a standard RJ-11 connector on one end and pluged that into the vonage modem and ran the other line into the main phone box. Remove the wire thats coming from the pole and just match the 4 wires to the right color in the box.

Re: vonage

You can wire it right into a phone jack in the room but your still going to need to disconnect the main wire coming from the pole to the house in the box.
