Little more details dude? You have pretty much asked us an unanswerable question. Are we talking DSLR, Compact P&S, Serious P&S (by this I mean serious lens), etc.

My dad just got my sister and his girlfriend a Sony DigiCam. I can get the model, but its DSC-622 or 600 or something along those lines. Anyway, great camera, pretty cheap too. Its nothing really small, but its 6MP, 3xOptical and takes really nice photos!

They are all about the same in the point and shoot variety. Just get one of the name brands with the right features and what not.

Also, there are several sites dedicated for Digicams.

http://www.steves-digicams.com/

http://www.dcresource.com/

etc.

I've used http://www.steves-digicams.com/ to help make my selection. I've been burned by the firts generation of digital camers. My ccd went out just after the warranty ended all I could get out of Olympus was send it in and well fix it but no answers at to free or fee. So I declined.

My daughter bought me a inexpensive Polaroid digicam. It take pix like an old brownie box camera. I was not really satified as I am a camera photography hobbyist.

So I ended up with a Canon A620 an 7.1 MP which Office Max had on sale about a week ago for $159. It has more features than I will probably use. I thinks it's the right camera for me.

In my case I just hooked up USB cable to the system hooked up the camera and turned it on and it found everything and even downloaded the images without any additional software install from me.

In addition to the sites already mentioned, I must add http://www.dpreview.com/ to the list.

Good luck and let us know which one you decide to go with.

EDIT: Ooops, I should have read the rest of the thread to see you already got one.
