Interesting...

Interesting....
Some of you have HUGE collections. By the time I finish recording my CDs, I'll probably have about 50 Gig total. Some of you have way more than that even.

2178 MP3s, 10.4 GB. I still have my Napster Good! logo shirt I wear everywhere. Hook my box up to my surround sound system and viola! Never listen to the radio or CDs again!

Smile How big is your MP3 collection?

Right! I work for the music industry and you're all under ARREST!
Ha Ha Ha, that had you worried. Actually I've never downloaded any music off the Internet onto my PC. I can't for the life of me think why people bother. For a start the PC speakers and amplification system are crap compared to my Marantz Hi-Fi system. What I have done over the last year is copied all my old Vinyl onto minidisc and I now play them in my office.
I have bought a couple of MP3 cd's though, one was the Virtual Philharmonic Orchestra and the other a great synthesist called Scott Free.

There is no substitute for MP3s. Think about it. They may not sound as good as the original cd, but I only have two cd drives and 2 cds will hold a maximum song count of about 30 songs. That's a horrible playlist. Now my hard drive has over 2100 songs flowing through my surround sound stereo system! No way you can do that with CDs, not even with a disc changer. I haven't listened to the radio in a year. Well, except for news radio.

Thanx. 823 hours of music, Media Jukebox can play for something like 34 days without repeating a song. LOL

Kinda overkill when you have to buy a new 80 gig drive just to hold the music.

Not at all. It's worth it. Think of it as a musical investment, like a stereo component. I got a 120GB Hdd on this new computer just because I planned from the very beginning on filling at least about half of it up with MP3s. I recorded all my own CDs (as well as much DL'd) and it is still only up to about 40GB. My song list may be shorter than others for that size too, because I record all mine at 320KB/s bitrate.

320, I wish mine were all that high.

I try to keep everything above 192 these days, but still have some older stuff done lower.

But I can't delete them, because replacements can't easily be found.
