| How do I Crystalize my MP3's? I have an X-Fi based Sound Card (Auzentech Prelude) which has Creatives Crystalization feature. Crystalization converts the audio into 24-bit/96kHz quality, then it remasters and selectively enhances the audio by analyzing and identifying which parts of the audio stream have been restricted/damaged during the compression stages to 16-bit and then to MP3. The result is music that sounds cleaner, smoother and has more sparkle, and movies that sound more realistic than ever before ( Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro - Definitive sound card for audio creation and gaming ) Now what I want to do is Crystalize my MP3's. Rather than record the audio output and potentially lose quality, I want to apply the crystalizer directly to my MP3's. To do this I guess I need to use Wavelab or Audacity, use a Crystallizer plugin from Creative to resample the mp3 using the X-Fi hardware, then save it as a high bitrate MP4 Audio file compatible with my iPod 5G. Is this possible? Ive tried various DSP plugins in Winamp, but the hardware crystallizer does a much better job.

| Re: How do I Crystalize my MP3's? There doesn't seem to be sufficient information at the Creative site to answer the question. It all seems to read as if the Crystalization function is just intended for on-the-fly enhancement during playback. Their demo is not very helpful: Flash Demo And note that all it says that Crystalization does to un-do the "damage" inflicted by compression is to emphasize sharp transients. With all due respect to the assessment which you have apparently already made of the Crystalizer function, my instinct is that converting mp3 to 24/96, with some processing to emphasize transients or whatever, is trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. | Re: How do I Crystalize my MP3's? I had a look there as well but couldn't find anything. I guess I'll just need to make do with the winamp plugins - which actually do an 'ok' job (well some of them). I have many mp3's (actually they are mp4 64kb/s streams) that are dull and flat, the crystalizer does a great job at improving the dynamics - it can make a massive difference when set to about +50%. Above 50% it starts to get too trebled and 'digital'. I wouldn't set it to 50% when playing CD's, 25% would be plenty.
