| No Video Signal with new video card and monitor COMPUTER SPECS: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz (original) ASUS P5N32 Deluxe SLI with nforce 4 chipset (replacement) EVGA 680i motherboard 2x 1gig Patriot Memory (not the cheapo stuff) SunbeamTec Nuo 450watt powersupply (32 amps to the 12volt rails) MSI Nvidia 8800 GTS 320mb ( I also tried an ATI AIW x1900) both are pci-e I have a Creative Audigy sound card Ok, so about a month ago my machine bluescreened while I was at work and it said something about machine_fault. When I tried restarting the computer I would get no video signal. So I started isolating everything to see if I could figure out which component failed. I tried a different video card which did not fix the problem. I tried switching the ram to different slots and also trying each ram stick by itself in all the slots which did not fix the problem. I uplugged everything but the cpu, videocard, and ram and still did not get a signal. I figured it was probably the cpu or motherboard so I took it to a computer shop to make sure. They tested out the psu, and all my components on one of their motherboards and we got a signal. So the conclusion was that we decided it was the motherboard. So I RMA'd my ASUS motherboard and waited 2 weeks tell it got back and installed everything again. The machine still did not work so I called ASUS and got a refund and than purchased an EVGA motherboard with a 680i chipset. I received the motherboard yesterday and I still have the same problem. I know the cpu is fine as we tested it in another computer. I know the ram is fine because it worked in another computer. I know the video card is fine because I tested more than one video card in the motherboard. The only thing I can think of is the powersupply is not supplying power to the video card or motherboard properly. That is the only component that I have not switched out with another one so it has to be it. I am going to take my pc into the shop again and see if they will try my pc with a new power supply and see if that is the problem. I don't see how it could be anything else. I just decided to post this up to get other peoples opinion on what the problem could be as it is still about 4 hours until the shop opens so until than I have nothing to do. (Its 6:00 a.m where I am located) Thanks |
