Opinion needed on a LVW-5005

Greetings I have a question about my new model 5005 DVD recorder.
First of all it works very well and I really enjoy this unit---my question is does it matter if I run the video/audio lines in and out and sort of use the 5005 as you might a VCR [ where as you must have the unit 5005 on to run the TV] the reason I would like to do it this way is for the convenience of being able to utilize the 5005 as I would like to. This way I can have the VCR and DVD players ready to use on the front ports of the 5005 so I can record from all selections--TV--VCR--DVD

Is this setup OK, I know it works and works fine, it`s just that I would like a little input as to the way I have this setup---are there any dangers to harming the 5005 ?????

Thanks Paul

Keep in mind you'll never be able to record a commercial DVD onto another DVD or even onto a VHS tape due to Macrovision copy protection. It alters the luminance signals so you're left with a very dark black and white image.

I did, only for an experiment of course.

Yes, I'm serious. I was told something would happen but I wondered what. BTW the sound is completely unaffected...

As a meaningless side note, there are VCRs out there that aren't bothered by the Macrovision protection. My Proscan PSVR83 supposedly is one of them - I've never bothered to try.

Endaar
