rthdcpl.exe, alcmtr.exe, and realtek ALC888

I'm using the onboard sound on my Foxconn M7PMX-S. It's Realtek HD Audio or something. It's apparently capable of 7.1, but I'm only using 5.1 atm, and don't plan on going any further with that.

My question is, what do you guys do about rthdcpl.exe and alcmtr.exe starting up with your computer? Do you guys disable it? Remove the registry keys from run in HKLM (you know where I mean)?

Thanks.

I just let them run, but I've got 8GB or memory, so what the heck. You will likely want to keep the control panel (just so it's there when you need to use it). I don't know about alcmtr.exe - not sure what it does.

Re: rthdcpl.exe, alcmtr.exe, and realtek ALC888

alcmtr.exe is what allows the onboard audio ports to detect when components are being plugged in. Which I'm sort of OK with, but then I've seen rampant reports that it collects other data as well, well beyond the scope of audio ports, and that leaves me a little vexed.
