| Video Card Problem? I was trying to replace an old video card with a newer one I had acquired. When I replaced the card I got no video signal at all. I figured the newer card was defective so I reinstalled the older card and was surprised to find I still had no video. I'm trying to figure what else could be wrong here. Is it possible the motherboard or motherboard video slot have gone bad? This is an older system and these are two AGP cards. Ideas appreciated. |

| Re: Video Card Problem? I'll have to get them and post. This is an older computer with an AMD chip and an Asus mb that I helped my friend build about five years ago. He found this second video card while dumpster diving but it was in original packaging and looked new. If it ain't broke don't fix it probably applies here. He was having numerous problems with this computer a few months ago running windows 2k for five years without a reinstall. I installed Ubunto for him and got the thing running great. Interestingly, while I was doing this for him I plugged it into one of my monitors and got no video signal until I plugged into another monitor and then it came back. I'm feeling something other than the card is not working here but just can't figure out what that might be. P.S. my friend is cheap as you might have surmised from the dumpster diving and today, to upgrade this computer, he'd need not only a new mb and cpu but a 24 pin power supply, new memory and a PCI-E video card. |

| Re: Video Card Problem? Update bios may help...but I really think that video card has a problem, or it wouldn't be in the trash...

| Re: Video Card Problem? I left the original card installed and my friend has been turning it on and off hoping for video. As strange as it may seem, it came back yesterday and when he turned it on again today, it worked like normal. Something is obviously loose, perhaps the card in the AGP slot or some connection that is not quite secure. Anyway, problem solved for now. |
