I like dell, they make extreme laptops with a big brand name warranty unlike smaller companies that make super extreme laptops at high costs. I'de suggest alienware, but they are very expensive and the latest i've heard from tomshardware they aern't the best. Imho, if your looking for a cost efficent laptop, go with a dell, if you don't care about price, go look at alienware alternatives and if none can offer what your looking for, look at alienware, I don't know the alternatives, but I do know they exist for pc desktop comparatives I guess,

All companies differ, alienware has powerhouses, dell has a full range that is nice, sony and apple have very nice lightweight notebooks, etc etc.

I just purchased a refurb Dell Latitude D410. I love it. It is light enough to carry with all my books. Although the Dell Inspirion 8200 I had was plaqued with problems, and still is.

I'd go with Dell or IBM ThinkPad...

Intel's centrinos are awesome....double the battery life and the architecture makes them faster than their desktop CPUs at the same clock speed.

BTW...my Toshiba has kept me happy for almost 2 years now!

Gateway makes a great High Performance laptop with great battery life. I got a M680X which comes with a Radeon X700 128mb for only $1200 and that includes a 8 cell battery +extra 8 cell, and a 17in ultra bright widescreen. Runs Doom 3 and the Fear Demo like a charm. Oh yeah, forgot to mention but the keyboard is laid out just like our regluar desktops with the number pad on the side...way cool.

Falcon NW makes some awesome systems, both desktop and laptops...but yeah they are crazy expensive...but dang they are really nice...I like the carrying cases that come with the laptops

I love NW website and Voodoo, they both make top notch systems but like you said lots of money. Its fun to go and configure a system and see how much it is, makes my eyes pop out...

I bought my first real "hardcore" desktop gaming system from Falcon NW and I was not disappointed....the wiring/cabling job they do inside is really top notch and I can never seem to replicate that when I build my own systems

If I was to buy a pre made I would go with NW or Voodoo. So when did you get your NW?

I got my Falcon system 4 years ago...I've upgraded my system/components a few times since then but I'm still using the CoolerMaster ATC-200 aluminum case I bought from them with their Falcon Northwest logo embedded on the front of the case (see attached pic)...I would not hesitate to go with them again...you can tell that they really put a lot of time and effort into building each individual system...in fact with systems getting more complicated to build (ex-ATI Crossfire) and more excess wiring I'm thinking about going with them again for my next major upgrade....

Voodoo is also good but their prices seem even higher then Falcon's...
