Yes, there will be an operator. No we will need a keyboard and mouse. Though the keyboard is not imperative. Except for when making modification to the instructions we give the program. But unfortunately, the mouse is the most important as the main gui consists of a huge layout of coloured buttons. Clicking each causes the robotic equipment to perform a series of moves that were preprogrammed into that button. If that were possible i just would have unplugged the mouse. But good thinking anyways. | |

| Re: Any way to make an application run frameless ? Yes, it's just a proof of concept test. IF it works, you can just PM me the application name and I would sent you a test executable (which would need to be started b/4 the automation software). PS If you haven't done so already, you may want to call the company's tech support line and see if they have built in a 'kiosk' mode - it's worth a try.

| Re: Any way to make an application run frameless ? I work in the industrial automation field. Nearly all HMI softwares can do what you want. What is the package you are using? |

| Re: Any way to make an application run frameless ? XJ > Thank you so much. I will wait for your update. I have spoken all this to the companys tech support guys. In fact i dealt with some of the lead programmers. But they refused to implement this. In fact their interface was so illogical that i had to make several suggestions and they implemented that. But it seems some done want to perfect their software and take customer feedback. They also refused to give the source code for us to atleast modify. Rick > Software is called penguin control. The guys have released the same software under several different names. It basically controls lighting. And no, it doesnt have anything close to a kiosk look. They are just concentrating on desktop users who will fire up the program, use it and shut it down like photoshop or whatever. They dont understand that these kind of applications need an industrial interface. It wouldnt have been so hard to just give an option within the software to deactivate the min, max, close buttons so that when we restart the application it implements that choice. | Re: Any way to make an application run frameless ? Sorry plainman007, I won't get to your problem this year. Netbeans 6.5 came out and now I giving their Visual Web Development tools for JSF a try (more important to me career wise than hacking win32 APIs). Sorry

| Re: Any way to make an application run frameless ? Plainman, try: Start>>Run>>gpedit.msc You can lock XP down very tight using this utility. Unfortunately, I don't have a quick way to accomplish what you want, but the options are there, within that utility. I recommend changing the user config and not the system config. Wish I had more time. Just stopped by, after a long absence, to check out the site. Happy to see her still chugging along! G/L!!

Sorry, bud. You need to click the Start (windows, lower left corner) button. Then click "Run..." Then type "gpedit.msc" (without the quotes) and hit enter.

| Re: Any way to make an application run frameless ? Chasm > Hey i know what you meant first time. Gimme a break i understand start>run>gpedit.msc I done everything correct first time itself. My system says cannot find gpedit.msc. Its windows XP home. Any inputs ? XJ > I saw that link. Hmm isnt that a little expensive for what it can do. Ill see if theres a demo download that i can try before i buy. But i dont know if it restricts right click and closing on the title bar too. |

| Re: Any way to make an application run frameless ? Chasm > I got gpedit.msc to run on my other system. It seems this system reports it as not found. But what should i do within Gpedit ? It seems so cryptic. Can you tell me what i should do within it to make the title bar disappear or deactivate the close / minimize buttons ? Thanks a lot. |
