| Re: Anyone using Carbonite for backup? I thought I would chime in here about Carbonite after a week of using it, I ended up with 15.5 gigs backed up and the only negative I can see is when you click on My Computer Icon, it now takes about 8 to 10 seconds to load that page, after the page loads there is no lag going to any drive, I called tech support about it and they said its because its scanning the drives? I haven't noticed any other slow downs anywhere else on the computer! Overall a really nice program, it was neat watching it automatically back up some new pictures I put on my F drive the other day, now thats what I call a real easy backup!!!! ![]()

| Re: Anyone using Carbonite for backup? I tried to simulate the annoyance you mentioned and could not get it to falter on loading the page. Takes a second or two to load the page. I think perhaps the reason for this is I do not have it set to backup automatically. It backs up at a cerain time each day, so scanning time is reduced. My data is only 9 gigs so that may be a factor as well. I still backup to an external drive and then hide the drive in a nice protected place. Eventually that may cease.

| Re: Anyone using Carbonite for backup? I am almost instant in all modes including opening the "Carbonite Backup Drive" which takes about two seconds. I believe you just have many files. This may be escoteric - do you have file indexing turned on?

I have it checked, it must be checked on default, I have 10457 files in my backup! Thanks a lot Jim for all the suggestions, I'll call tech support again and see if they have any ideas. I'm thinking about just uninstalling and restalling, that might do the trick!

| Re: Anyone using Carbonite for backup? Well I give up on Carbonite, I tried for 4 hours all together on hold(thank god for speaker phone) and never got through to tech support (what a JOKE that is). So I did a little googleing this afternoon, it seems I'm not the only one with problems with Carbonite and there tech support, so I uninstalled it and wrote them a Nice email on what I think of there tech support or lack of ! Well I'm now trying MosyHome like Gr8Golf is using and it seems a lot smoother and no hick ups like I had with carbonite, you get 2 gigs for free and anything else is $54 a year! I let you know now this one is!!!! LOL ![]()
