| Burning Cd Burning Question :) Hey MR and SZ and Everyone I have a question. As you may know I have Nero 5035. I have a file that I want to put on CD. Its 1 gig. Is there any way I can do that? Can I use a program to break up this file into two smaller parts and put them on two different CD's and then put them together later on my hard drive? Cheers! Tam

| Re: Burning Cd Burning Question :) Quote:
Working with image files Image files and CD writers Norton Ghost support of SCSI and IDE CD writers allows storage of a single image file onto one or more CD-R or CD-RW disks. The CDs can be read by any modern CD reader. When using CD writers with Norton Ghost, a writer can be selected as the destination device in the File Locator window. Each writer is shown as CD-Rx, where x is a number starting at one and increasing incrementally for each writer present. For example, the following screen shows a CD writer available for use. [image] For Norton Ghost to access SCSI CD writers, a DOS ASPI driver must be installed prior to use. See “Updating Norton Ghost” on page 21 for more information. Norton Ghost has been tested with the CD writers listed below. It will probably work with most SCSI and IDE writers produced in 2000. It may or may not work with older models. Use the latest firmware available for your CD writer. If your CD-R device is not listed below, use the Check Image feature of Norton Ghost to ensure that your image can be restored. For more information see “Cloning a disk to an image file” on page 35. Use blank CD-R media or fully formatted CD-RW media for Norton Ghost. Fast-formatted CD-RW media is not suitable. When creating an image on CD, you can make the CD bootable. You need an appropriate boot disk with CD drivers and MSCDEX loaded for this option. The Ghost Boot Wizard can create a suitable boot disk for you. | |

| Tam, I guess you will have to download the sharewarecopy from their page and once you paid for it that they will send you the key. I haven't used the program in a while, therefore I am not sure. |

| You could also have used WinRAR with just "storage" option ( i.e. no compression) to split your files.... WinRAR is everything WinZIP isn't : it has a good layout, USEFUL options, and can even do things it wasn't planned for initially (splitting files I still wonder how winzip became a standard .... crappy in every respect . ....To some of you, the word XPK may remind something....but that was on another OS, with another philosophy.... Hmm I've slipped off topic it seems.... Baah

| I don't use WinZip, I use Power Desk. PD can read all files including rar files, the only files it doesn't read are ace files. I didn't know that winrar can split files. |
