Can not remove AVG 8 Sometime ago I installed AVG 8 trial just so then I could do some virus scans. After the trial expired I ran the uninstall and removed the program. Or so I thought after trying to install any new type of AV I get an error basically saying that I still have AVG 8 on my PC. So I went through and started deleting some registry keys that had AVG 8 in it, I got rid of all, but 3 keys that just will not delete for me. This is making it so I still can not install a different AVG. I am looking for a solution that doesn't include a format of my PC to get an AV installed. Anyone have suggestions, ideas, or an application that could help me in this situation.

Re: Can not remove AVG 8 I have yet to try that lol I can't believe I have looked over that idea. The thing is there is other keys in there that I do not wanna delete that show up when I do a search for AVG. I don't wanna delete them cause these keys do not seem relevant and doesn't say anything about AVG, it just appears when I do a search...

Re: Can not remove AVG 8 One thing you may want to check is if one of the Registry files has been made Read Only. Most of the files are in Windows\System32\Config. Those files are Software, System, SAM, Security, Default, and UserDiff. (No extension on any of these files.) The rest of the files are all named NTuser.dat, and will be located in the various "Users" folders in the Documents and Settings folder. There is one NTuser.dat for each user set up on the system. Also, check to see if your user-name has access priviledges and write permissions for those files. Last edited by Terry Reynolds; 08-25-2008 at 07:24 AM..

Re: Can not remove AVG 8 The windows clean up utility and Revo uninstaller didn't pull up anything about AVG. Either way for some random reason with out doing anything different from the last time I tried to install an AV it worked this time around...IDK what happened, but doesn't matter to me thanks everyone for all the help.
