Re: Google Chrome

I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling with this Chrome from Google...
sure, it maybe a faster browser(in most cases), BUT... with articals about it like this one from ZDNets - Between the lines
and Informationweek artical on chrome... yea gotta start asking questions...

Google is built on ads...
I'm sure there is some sort of advertisement tracking system built into the browser to track what your doing...
This is just speculation of course...

Re: Google Chrome

If you use Google Chrome, you can type directly the following in the URL address:

about:internets
about:memory
about:stats
aboutlugins
about:cache
about:version
about:dns
about:network

See the resulting webpages. I tried something like about:idiot, about:moron, about:me, etc. but nothing comes up Got these from other website.

Thumbs down Re: Google Chrome

I decided to uninstall it. Afterward, I found that it left a bunch of stuff in my user account (application settings) and in the registry and it also left a scheduled windows task (googleupdate.exe), which was still running. I am not happy with this thing. I want to find a way to clean it out. If not, I am going to revert back to an image of the C partition I have from the day before install. This left a bad taste in my mouth.
Shame on you Google.

I finally decided to try Chrome...lots to like about it...the main thing being that it is FAST!...web pages open up lightning fast...nothing is faster then Chrome that's for sure...yes that includes Firefox 3.0

there are a few annoying things about Chrome though which really take some getting used to...no arrow in the address bar that shows a drop down box of previous URL's...sorry but I've become way too accustomed to that feature to have it be removed from my browser...no way of getting the arrow back...the only way to check previous URL links now is to go into the History page which shows via thumbnail the 9 most frequent sites you visit...also has a more detailed History listing there as well

I actually found myself getting used to that feature after some time but in the end just could not use this browser full time because of that...Chrome is also very lean and clutter free...no extensions yet...overall I like the potential of Chrome over Firefox

Google's open-source Chrome browser has finally received proper support for Firefox-style extensions in the latest developer build.

the currently available developer build of Chrome– along with the nightly release of Chromium– supports true extensions which are able to modify both the functionality and the appearance of the browser.

Whereas previous support was limited to scripts wrapped in a specific container format, this build represents the first step towards true Firefox-style add ons for Google's browser. The support is already looking pretty slick– unlike Firefox, Chrome doesn't require a restart when a new extension is installed before it can be used

Re: Google Chrome

Chrome doesn't work very well in W7. The only things I like about Chrome are the initially load time, and home page. Other than that, FireFox: Mouse Gestures... Period.
