As opposed to what my cat has been searching? lol, j/k

So it wouldn't then search through links I've followed with a mouse-click? I can see the good and bad in that. Would keep a lot of junk out of my AwesomeBar searches, but some relevant stuff too.

IE8 is using the same corny feature which adds a whole bunch of stuff to the location bar...but disabling it in IE8 is simpler...don't know why these browsers are adding all this extra stuff which just clutters up the location bar
found some more tweaks/extensions which really helped make this new 'Awesome Bar' much less annoying...along with the oldbar extension there is another extension called 'Hide Unvisited' which helps eliminate the corny Bookmark links that automatically show up in your location bar at all times

and finally there is a tweak in 'about:config' that needs to be changed

browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped

Determines behavior of autocomplete in Location Bar

True: Only matches typing against URLs specifically typed into Location Bar

False (default): Match against history

change this setting to True

put them all together and you have a nice clean location bar with none of the clutter of this new 'awesome bar' nonsense

and reading the hundreds of comments left by users of these extensions I can see that I'm not the only one who finds this new clutter annoying...I'm all for change and new technology but this does not serve any real purpose...I know what I'm looking for and don't need ridiculous suggestions and searches of my entire browser history, favorites etc to find what I'm looking for (that's what Google is for)...maybe in rare cases this might be helpful but more often then not it is annoying

plus Mozilla must somewhat agree with this as well as I heard that with Firefix 3.1 they will give users the option of disabling Favorites, History etc from the location bar

How do I selectively delete certain ones showing in the drop down box?

Sorry I wasn't clear when I first asked my question.

The address line is not a problem. I can delete items in the url address drop down box perfectly fine.

That's not the problem location.

Go to the website of Newegg or your bank or Amazon or ebay or your webmail such as Yahoo. Then go and log in or fill out an online data box that asks for your name or address or city or phone number or credit card number or etc. where each box is a separate field on the web page form (such as an order form). If you have been to that webpage before and used the form, then when you type in the first letter or number of your name or address or phone number etc., the "convenient" type-ahead feature shows your whole name or address or phone number etc. which you may then "conveniently" click on to quickly "auto fill" the field.

Now, how do I delete those "auto-fill" items which appear below the fill-in box which "magically" appear right after I type the first letter in the fill-in box? Nothing appears until after the first character is typed and the "auto fill" activates.

go into Tools--->Options--->Privacy tab and uncheck the box that says 'Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar'
