Netscape & IE transfer from one computer to another

I need to transfer Netscape 7.02 and Internet Explorer 5.5 from one location to another. Does anyone know where the files I need to transfer are? Especially the bookmarks.

They aren't as apparent as they used to be. These software writers keep getting worse and worse and seemingly don't care about the final user as much as they once did. There was a time when the bookmark file was actually called bookmark.htm making it easy to backup or transfer.

In IE, the bookmarks file is called Favorites. It's somewhere in your user profile. Do a search and you'll find it.

c:\windows\Favorites for IE

For Netscape 7.02 I am thinking they might be in the registry. Would have to check to be sure.

You could do this in Netscape:

Click the Bookmark menu.
Select Manage Bookmarks.
In the new window that pops up called Bookmark Manager go to the Tools menu.
Click Export.
Save the file and you are done.

To Import, select Import and select the file to Import in the Bookmark Manager.

Edit:

BTW, sorry for taking so long to reply. Had to go do a few things.

I would love to do that Gorgo except the source Netscape 7.02 with the needed bookmarks are in a ghost image file. Hence the need to know which file has the bookmarks. I hope the files are in the directory not the registry.

I hope it's not another case of downgrading to a newer version.

No problem with the reply Gorgo.

Yes, it does seem like today's software engineers are stupid idiots.

I found the bookmarks for Netscape in a directory called:

C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\x\frhyin58.slt\bookmarks.html

Makes perfect sense, doesn't it? Oh, and the cookies and other info was there too.

Good work traveler.

I also know how to get information out of the registry that is stuck in an image, but happy to hear we don't have to go there.

I had to do this again for FireBird.

When will the programmers learn to put the files all together?
