| Office 2007---just BAD----at least for me... I really wanted to like Office 2007... I really really wanted to, yes I did..... And I believed the hype about it being a better version..... But in the end----I'm sorry----it is an absolute disaster for me..... It takes me FOUR times as long to do virtually anything----very frustrating.... I know the commands to make it do something are there----but finding them----aye----there's the rub..... This new version is a complete sop to someone BRAND NEW to Office and a complete disaster to someone who has been fairly experienced with Office since 1997. They went after new customers while completely ignoring the existing user base----what remarkable arrogance....... There should at least be something like "Cassic View" where you can get the menus back----I mean whatever happened to the standard GUI that has been in place for years.... If a business goes to this new version they better have a SERIOUS training program or the drop in productivity and the drop in office staff morale as pressure to meet deadlines rises will be substantial..... The arrogance that Microsoft has sometimes----it's just utterly astounding..... OK---I'm through venting....I'll stick with it and learn this *#%$ program----but the cost in time and frustration will be heavy-----and in the end----needless...... I wish I could just go back to 2003----but the word is: we bought it, so USE it..... The hacks in my IT department got bamboozled.....

| Re: Office 2007---just BAD----at least for me... I'm still using Office 2000 Premium with no issues at all...I have no desire to use Office 2003, 2007 etc for a person that primarily uses Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access I don't see how much can they improve these programs which warrant me spending another few hundred dollars

| Re: Office 2007---just BAD----at least for me... I've used every version of Office from the '90s through version 2003 at various locations for extended periods of time. My home computers run Office 97. I found nothing necessary in any version after 97. Yes there were a few nice improvements but nothiong necessary. It's a good thing the later versions were available to me for free (actual value is .... free). Not even worth 59.95. Should be free at this point in time. So the only thing that M$ can do to Office now is to make it worse than the previous version. ![]() |

| Re: Office 2007---just BAD----at least for me... While I do understand the need for software to mature and features to be added, it is totally unwarranted and counter productive to move and/or rename vital functions.. It's unacceptable to have ANY learning curve for the average user doing a simple task, especially in a work environment.. How much valuable time was spent by IT departments explaining where the "favorites" button went when IE7 came out? Can you imagine if they hid the controls on a new car every model year the way these guys do with software? |

| Re: Office 2007---just BAD----at least for me... I tested the BETA version last year and hated it too. I purposely purchased Office 2003 for my church a few weeks ago just to avoid 2007.

| Re: Office 2007---just BAD----at least for me... I think I mentioned in another thread that perhaps 5% of the people at my company volunteered to use Office 2007. Part of the enticement was improved functionality of some of the more advanced applications like Project Server. This started a few months ago and I cannot recall anyone yet stating they like it. Some admitted they got used to the new layout, but did not believe it was really worth it. As a result, we are still purchasing new computers with Windows XP and Office 2003. |

Because people would rather spend the time making money. If I mailed you a letter could you tell me which version of Office I used to make it? Quote:
Because people would rather spend the money on their kids, a vacation, or retirement investments. Or real improvements in hardware. Why waste time or money when it does no improvement to anything !!! Leave it to Trust Fund Babies or to people that like to waste time to play with M$'s folly. ![]() | ||
