PerfectDisk 25% off

http://www.raxco.com/products/commer...l_download.cfm
Use before midnight February 14th. Coupon code PD-RED
Be sure to look under the buy now link for all options.

I have used PD since version 5 and love it. I have payed the extra fee for support and upgrade protection every 12 months and have received each new version when released. Plus you can always download the latest full version free for later use. What this means is you get the latest version for about 8 bucks or less a year. IMO not a bad deal at all.

ever since I bought Perfectdisk 2008 whenever I analyze my drive it only tells me that it needs a regular defrag but never states that I need a boot time defrag anymore...is this a Vista issue as with XP it shows me both?...does a Vista system not need a boot time defrag?...or is it OK to just perform a boot time defrag once a month or so even if the software doesn't recommend one to be done?

My experience is only with Perfect Disk 7 running on XP, but I would think that what you should do is run its analysis mode, and in the results look at how fragmented the files listed as "excluded" are. Those are the files that require boot-time defragmentation, and I would say you should make your own decision, based on those analysis results and not on the "recommendation." My suspicion, although as I say I have no Vista experience, is that doing the boot-time defrag is not needed very often -- once a month is probably more than enough.

Regards,

-- Al
