| I am also interested in this topic. I have a 20GB iRiver that is just not large enough anymore. The great thing about the iRiver is that I can connect it to any computer by USB and it acts as a hot-swappable external hard drive. Able to transfer any type of file to it and still keep its music playing capability. You load mp3's onto through Windows Explorer. Is there anything that lets the iPod do this? That 80GB is looking tempting, but only if I can have this feature. Hope we get a response here.

| You need an app to hack into the iPod to do this but it can be done. Here is a link to a thread that has some interesting links ... http://www.abxzone.com/forums/audio-...highlight=iwho

| Sorry for the double-posting, but I think I may have found an answer per your iLounge link. However, this hardly seems like a 'hack' so I am not sure if this does the same thing. Maybe you can tell me if it does? Beginner’s Guide to Using iPods as Hard Disks It says you can transfer things (not just mp3) to and from the iPod through Explorer without having to use iTunes at all. Will this acheive the features I am concerned about? Thanks! *EDIT*: Futhermore, after setting up the iPod in the described manner from the tutorial, will the iPod be able to connect to any XP based machine in the same way? Or do I have to set up iTunes with the same settings on each machine?

| The iPod is my son's baby ... I remember reading somewhere that doing this will void your warranty if you care about that sort of thing.

| I know that there is a plug in for iPods that mean you can use Winamp with your iPod instead of iTunes. Winamp is a great piece of software - try it out if you haven't already. You should be able to Google search for the Winamp iPod plugin if it isn't obviously on the Winamp website. Scottie P |

| I use v5.31 and I haven't any spyware. I used the 5.30 version with the Winamp Library (that I believe is required to get this iPod support) and it didn't have any spyware either. The installers pretty transparent and you can tweak the preferences pretty much any way you want. Still is my default audio player. Wouldn't trade it...

| If it is a setting within iTunes, could it really void the warranty??
