| Solved the IE 8 Tab Hanging Issue ---I Think.... If you are like me----and actually LIKE Internet Explorer 8 but you are constantly annoyed with trying to open a new page----or a new tab and IE 8 sometimes just "hangs"----says it is loading the page and it just goes on forever. Then you are coming in contact with the infamous "Tab Hang in IE8 Issue" that when you search on with google----the information is endless.... The problem is BIG..... But it seems after looking through some of the Microsoft forums....They don't even want to ADMIT it is a problem with their flagship browser. The advice given is always so mundane as to be ridiculous. And----this is one of those issue that "happens to some----but not others".... Well----I think I fixed it on my brand new Win 7 Ultimate Upgrade machine. But it was multiple steps---which one did the trick----who knows----maybe it was a combination. But I have put IE8 through it's paces for several days now without the issue reappearing. If it comes back----I will update this post but here are the steps I took: 1. Did a complete cleaning of all cookies, temp files and history in IE8, tools---Internet Options. 2. Did Manage Add-Ons in IE8 and disabled all add-ons that I really did not need or use----ESPECIALLY the Add-On for AVG-Free as there were a lot of posts I found doing research that blamed this add-on for the issue in IE8. 3. Opened AVG Free and disabled the three functions under "Link Scanner" as once again----many people claim that this is what is causing Tab Hang. Plus----I'm not sure "Link Scanner" does anything for me anyway.... 4. Reregistered a .dll: Open a Command prompt -> Run as Administrator -> Type or copy/paste regsvr32 actxprxy.dll -> OK (this one is a common fix recommeneded throughout the net). 5. Did a disk cleanup with everything checked. 6. Downloaded the latest version of CCleaner---ran it and the registry cleaning portion. Ran the regclean portion 3 times before it stoipped finding little issues. 7. Rebooted It's been several days now of nightly heavy surfing----and I have yet to re-encounter the issue..... If it pops up again----then obviously I did not fix it----but so far----so good.

| Re: Solved the IE 8 Tab Hanging Issue ---I Think.... I've had the same issue sometimes, about once or twice a month (also on 64bit - Vista)... all my add-ons were disabled except for shock, but I did have the link scanner active in AVG... I've just disabled it... will report back if IE tab hangs again...

| Re: Solved the IE 8 Tab Hanging Issue ---I Think.... A lot of people seem to think it is related to AVG But AVG doesn't own up to it..... NOBODY wants to own up to it..... but if you look around the web----there are huge threads everywhere on it..especially in Microsofts own forums.... Seems I am not alone concerning IE8.... I'd go to Chrome or Firefox in a minute----except my school system bases EVERYTHING on IE
