Windows XP printer will not delete

I'm doing some work on a computer for a friend and we installed a Lexmark Z32 printer. Well what actully happened was I tried to install the printer drivers at my house without actually having the printer. Everything seemed to install ok but then we rebooted to system and it tried to then find the printer. I just canceled out of all that and sent him packin. When he got home the thing would not connect so he mucked around with it apparently then emailed me and I saw that he had like 4 Z32 printers icons in his printers and fax's control panel, so i thought well screw it i'm going to delete all of them and start over. Now I'm left with one Z32 icon that says deleting and will not delete even after a reboot. I did an add printer and got his printer working but still that one dam Z32 printer will not delete just says Deleting. Anyone seen this before?

It may help i don't know, but go and stop the printer spooler service and try to delete it then.

Re: Windows XP printer will not delete

I know this thread is old, and I would hope that the original poster got past it by now (6 years later!)...

But, I had the same problem and here is the solution:

Make sure that all print jobs are canceled, one would think that Windows takes care of that for you, but it does not! Once the print jobs are gone, the printer will delete.
