| Damn. I thought it just autodetected which socket you connected the monitor into. |

| The weird looking startup screen never bothered me (haven´t seen "normal" version since 9.2 so i thought it´s just novel) The readme to the drivers say you need glibc 2.2 or 2.3 installed. YAST says i´ve glibc 2.2 installed, the ATI driver installer says i´m using glibc 2.1. Symptoms my rig has: Install drivers using atidriverinstaller (following their readme), driver get installed, i run fglrxconfig, i check xorg.conf, i restart X and get a black screen (LCD goes to sleep). Tried different fglrx options, tried it with and without agpgart nothing changes. Install drivers using Suse drivers (following their readme), building and loading kernel modules (there are some warning during build, will post text next time i´m in linux at home), i run sax2 according to the readme, i get a picture. When i choose O.K. there, sax2 exits, xorg.conf is updated and looks o.k. when i check it. But when i restart X i get black screen and LCD goes to sleep. When i choose change, and set the monitor right (L1710B(digital) instead of L1710B(analog)) and then say Test, i get the black screen goes to sleep as well. Do your kernel modules build without any comment or warning? Maybe this is my problem. Swannema, can you just start the atidriverinstaller to see what version of glibc it reports (this is done before you actually install anything) to you? Greetings Dru

| I have glibc 2.3.4-23.2 The only error I got were about some missing fonts. And sorry, this ATI installer won't get near my machine. Can you post your Xorg? Are your hsync and vsync settings correct for your monitor?

swannema, you won´t really have to install anything. When you start it, tha first thing it does is telling you what X-Server and what glibc you´re using. You can cancel out of it before it does anything else. Will try to post something when i find enough time this evening. I´m pretty sure that the sync´s are ok. Otherwise i´d get a warning message from the monitor. It looks exactly like when i power down the PC. Screen is black, Power LED is yellow (cable connected but no signal). Greetings Dru
