Redhat 9.0 Won't Install

I'm trying to install RedHat 9.0 that i just dL from the website but its seem to freeze up when it start to load. These are the step that i took before it freeze.

1.Boot with Cd
2.Press enter when it come to that selete screen
3.When it starting to read what i have on my computer it freeze when it start to read my harddrive i believe.

ide0 at 0xefe0-0xefe7,0xefae on irq 11
ide1 at 0xefa0-0xefa7,0xefaa on irq 11

can someone help me i'm really new at linux.

XP BLah

I'm getting tired of using XP wanting to see what other OS out there is like

hehe, nothing wrong with that, just make sure u do it on a separate partition so that once u get sick of ****ty linux u can go back to your beloved XP

Yea I am i'm putting linux on another hardrive that have, Maxtor 40 Gb, and XP on my 80gb

If you have an i865PE / 875P motherboard try to play with the IDE Settings in BIOS (change Enhanced Mode to Compatibility), it will help 100% I had the same problem, btw...

It sounds like an IRQ conflict. Play around with the settings in the bios.

Right now winxp is the better os gui wise, but linux is getting there with a better interface the will approach winxp soon. Linux has some strong advantages, mostly in its ability to be a good workstation/server computer. Also it runs much leaner. It's main advantages is that it is free, and anyprogram you need for windows has a free linux counter part that is just as good.

If your new to linux redhat is fine but I recommend mandrake for linux newbees. There might be a problem with compatbility with your newer hardware (specifically if you use sata hard drives) under mandrake so you might want to stay with redhat 9.

Tryed It

well i try to change it to compatible mode but when i do it wont detect my maxtor and my liteon cdrom for some reason i really thank yah for helping me.
