Ubuntu-EEE on an Asus Eee-PC

Never used Linux in my life.....

Thought I might buy one of the cheap Netbooks from Asus (An Eee-PC)-----and play around with it using either

EeeBuntu or Ubuntu-Eee

Good place to start learning Linux???

Other suggestions.....???

Re: Ubuntu-EEE on an Asus Eee-PC

John, for the money you are going to spend on the Asus, take a look at Ubid.com for cheap thinkpad t40 or r50 series and download the full install of kubuntu (Feels more like windows imo) and use that. The thinkpad line is pretty well supported by linux. I say this as I am running a dual boot vista/kubuntu on the thinkpad r52 I'm typing this on right now.....

Re: Ubuntu-EEE on an Asus Eee-PC

I have a 701 EeePC running Ubuntu-EEE.

It also runs Mandriva which is supported out of the box.

This is where you want to go ...
