| Antivirus for Windows 2000 Pro? My laptop runs W2000. I've been using AVG antivirus 7.5, but it is no longer supported with virus signature updates. And the newer AVG version does not work on Windows 2000. Also, my new Norton 360 ver.3 does not work on W2000. This 1998 laptop still has all the speed I need, plus 6 hours of operation. Years ago, I replaced Windows ME with Windows 2000. I prefer 2000 to XP or Vista, because it runs my older software. So, what decent (and preferably free) antivirus software is out there for W2000?

| Re: Antivirus for Windows 2000 Pro? After more digging, I found AVIRA. The reviews on download.cnet were reasonably good. Avira required several W2000 updates, but now seems to be working.

| The new version of AVG won't install into win2000???!!!??? Wow!!! I thought it did! I haven't got around to updating my AVG either. I'm running a win98se and a win2000 box still. I just checked, AVAST is supported for win2000. | Re: Antivirus for Windows 2000 Pro? Here is a site that reviews security solutions, maybe it helps: av-test dot org. You can also compare different products. Look for hourly virus database updates and proactive detection. These matter too. Good luck! |
