| BSOD Message 0xDEADBEEF? Hi all, I'm currently attempting to repair install my Dell XPS M1210 with Windows XP Pro. During the repair install, a BSOD comes up with the message: STOP: 0xDEADBEEF (0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000) And the dump of physical memory takes a long time to complete. Anyone know whats up with this?

| 0xdeadbeef I'm running into a similar issue...on a Dell Optiplex 240. Are you repairing due to a NO_IRP_STACKS issue? I had two different BSoDs before attempting the repair: 0x00000050 and 0x0000035. It appears my DEADBEEF error is due to a missing DLL, I'm reattempting the reinstall with the missing dll (Dell OMCI.SYS) on CD |

| Stop 0xDeadBeef Its a programmers code telling them that the data stream is corrupt. There are a couple of things you can do. 1. Do a complete 32 bit diag on your hard drive. 2. Attempt to repair install from another XP reinstallation disc from Dell. 3. PC Restore your computer. 4. Complete OSRI (Operating System Re-Install) That last two are last resort if you cant get it to complete the repair install. Eagle_Fyre |

| Re: BSOD Message 0xDEADBEEF? rofl its a "magic debug" value * 0xABADBABE ("a bad babe") is used by Apple as the "Boot Zero Block" magic number. * 0xBAADF00D ("bad food") is used by Microsoft's LocalAlloc(LMEM_FIXED) to indicate uninitialised allocated heap memory. * 0xBADDCAFE ("bad cafe") is used by 'watchmalloc' in OpenSolaris to mark allocated but uninitialized memory. * 0xCAFEBABE ("cafe babe") is used by both Mach-O ("Fat binary" in both 68k and PowerPC) to identify object files and the Java programming language to identify Java bytecode class files * 0xDEADBEEF ("dead beef") is used by IBM RS/6000 systems, Mac OS on 32-bit PowerPC processors and the Commodore Amiga as a magic debug value. On Sun Microsystems' Solaris, marks freed kernel memory. On OpenVMS, running on Alpha processes DEAD_BEEF can be seen by pressing CTRL-T. * 0xDEFEC8ED ("defecated") is the magic number for OpenSolaris core dumps. * 0xFEEDFACE ("feed face") is used as a header for Mach-O binaries, and as an invalid pointer value for 'watchmalloc' in OpenSolaris.
