| NTFS- corrupt master file table. After a especially interesting BSOD, Win2000 reports 'corrupt master file table' on my second HD. When Win2000 boots, checkdisk starts running. It correctly identifies the HD as a NTFS volume & displays the right volume-label. Then, sadly, it quits with the aforementioned err. When Win2000 has loaded, it correctly identifies 2 partitions on the HD. But, alas, that's it. Selecting 'Properties' on either partition gives *NO* correct data, size, used space etc. are given as 0, volume-label is blank. Trying to run error-check doesn't do ANYTHING. When trying to access the HD from explorer, I just get an err-message. Now, my only hope is YOU... I really, REALLY need to get to the files on this HD. ANY ideas HOW??? Plz help! David |

| Just a thought, but you may want to consider downloading this defrag program's demo and run it. It's Raxco Software's Perfect Disk. It may help with your MFT woes. Link: http://www.raxco.com Buenos suerte... |

| I've never had a corrupt MFT, but I'd expect that one the tools in Norton Utilities could correct the error

| Yeah, the stuff starts piling up after a while I've removed some of it during my latest rebuild, though. My CD-R and old 1GB SCSI disk are gonna do service in an old dual Pentium 133MHz if I can get it running.
