Angry shmedia.dll and windows explorer closes!!!

Hi

I have Windows XP Pro SP3. I have a folder full of large *.avi's. Everytime i mouse over one of the avi's Windows Explorer closes and restarts. I checked Event Viewer and it appears that shmedia.dll is causing this. Is there a fix?

I have tried removing Divx to no avail and i have tried updating DivX to no avail.

It also does not matter whether or not i have thumbnails on or not. This occurs in safe mode too...

This been going on since the beginning of Oct 2008!

Please help
NBK

Some Microsoft MVP gave me a method to turn off autopreview. I was able to delete the bad video temp files that were causing the problem then i turned back on autopreview.

Last time this happened it was DivX causing a problem...
