Unhappy Xp, Really Big Problem After Tweaking! Help !

I come to this site when i experience a really big problem. BIG ONE...

I think you know about Tweakhound. I come here from that site. After i finish tweaking my comp based on that site, disaster came.

Short list about my comp:
-Intel celeron 1.7ghz, 256 SDRAM
-XP SP2
-just finished reformat(imagine how virgin my computer is)
-only install several software(light one,avast,ccleaner..).

I follow almost everything based on Tweakhound XP SP2 Super tweaks. Except page file(i am novice, my name), and registry roughly.

This is the list of problems:
-Every setting i made come to its default after reboot(after tweaks).
-My history, internet settings, turned to default(my IE7 search bar,clean....no google, yahoo).
-My wallpaper, desktop, start menu change back like default(like after reformat)I can see the green field....

Several step i take when tweaking:
-i separate hardware profile(for services) categorise to default (operate), level 3 services(crash, no DSL connections, services msc does not operate completely)

Weird thing:
-my avast, completely stopped on level 3 services.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:h elp: (i cant say anymore)

Re: Xp, Really Big Problem After Tweaking! Help !

so, this happens when i touch the services? My comp return to default(healthy). However, how i want to tweak the services because i afraid that the disaster may be repeated? I hope you can help me in this case:

-i cannot drag and drop the desktop and start menu icon.
-my DSL connection become unavailble.
-my boot time become so slow although my PF usage(tweaked) is lower than default PF usage in my computer.(60MB (tweaked) , 178MB (default).
-my startup software(avast) does not start although i did not disable it in services.

In short, it just like safe mode(almost) for my computer. What is the services that involve in this case. So, i can carefuly select my sevices.

To be perfectly honest, since you've done so little post-install, I'd say do another fresh install. And this time don't make changes that you don't understand or are unsure of.

Re: Xp, Really Big Problem After Tweaking! Help !

Hi novice.

I understand that you have done some "tweaking" to your XP install that did mess up your system.
From the info you provided so far i don't know what you "tweaked" and how, but it seems that you followed some guidelines from tweakhounds site. I don't know this specific site, but i think it should be possible to have a look at it to see what you may have done to your system.

If your installation is very fresh, so that a new install of XP won't do much harm, i'd recommend doing so.
After all the hardware is running, all the drivers and applications you need are installed, i'd recommend "tweaking" with the aid of blackviper's site.

Greetings

Dru
