shut down screen

I have Vista loaded on my laptop. The problem is that I have to select "shut down" Every time I want to turn it off. It always has the "sleep" option selected. How do I get it to remember the last option I selected?

I would also like to use the power button to turn it off but that doesn't work. It goes into hibernate mode if I press the power button. I'm not sure if these two problems are related. I can't find anything in the BIOS to change the power button settings.

The is a Dell XPS M1530 BTW.

Re: shut down screen

Go to control panel, then power options. All kinds of things you can change.

BTW, did you ever get my PM I sent you, apologizing about the laptop reply?

Re: shut down screen

I got it. I forgot all about that. I don't need it now.

I'll look in the power options to see what I can find. I did take a quick look through there before but nothing caught my eye for the problem I am having.

Re: shut down screen

Thanks for the help. There are too many power options/settings in Vista... I wish it would just remember the last option you used like XP does.
