Re: Vista Service Pack 1

Gets better and better.
The bad: Windows Vista SP1 lacks any compelling "must haves," and, in most cases, doesn't significantly improve performance (in some cases, it even degrades performance).

Re: Vista Service Pack 1

I like Vista 64, but won't run it right now, until I get these connection issues solved.

Re: Vista Service Pack 1

Before the update I was was getting the Video Driver stopped responding error now and then. Since, have not had that. Knock on wood.

Only thing I now get in the Windows Event Viewer is a Kerberos error at boot. I wish I could clear that.

I have an ATI card and things were better without the CCC. But, I still did get it now and then. I also had some improvement with a leaked driver vista_8-451-2-080123a. But, still had it when using MS M Center after several hours.
I can only go back a few drivers because the older one's don't support the HD 3850. I used several different ones as a test. I have an uptime now of over 20 hours w/o any errors.

" Conclusion
Do you need Windows Vista SP1? Yes and no. It's always good to install the latest (read: patched) code for any operating system. But downloading and installing the update will take some users a few hours without any visible or tangible improvements to their systems. "

took me no more than 45 min. Solved a Vid problem. Been up 1 day 17 hours with solid operation. When the Windows update ver comes out, I am going to do a complete drive image restore and do it again. I say, if you are not having problems, wait till march.

I'm glad I did the upgrade, I'm beginning to like Vista a little more....
Maybe if the tester did the upgrade on a desktop instead of a laptop it might reflect more of what I'm seeing...
It took around 1/2 an hour ( not counting downloading it from a torrent)

Re: Vista Service Pack 1

Vista 64 is running better for me now, because I installed the service pack right away, rather than download all those updates, before installing the service pack, after a recent reinstall to straighten things out.

Re: Vista Service Pack 1

I did a fresh install before applying the service pack as well, I checked winders updates for the heck of it and there were about 47 updates, I think 23 were critical..
