Vista: Taskbar is frozen when I click on volume control

I have Vista 32bit with SP1 and had no problems up to now.... Everytime I click on volume icon, the taskbar freezes and need to reboot to get control back! Very annoying and really don;t want to reformat

Is there an available hotfix for this?

Did you change anything recently? Install any updates/apps/patches/hardware?

The only thing I can recommend is re-install your audio device drivers.
What kind of sound solution do you have?

Re: Vista: Taskbar is frozen when I click on volume control

I havent installed any thing as of late...... I have a Creative sound blaster Audigy Fatality gamer card with latest drivers. I did notice when I run DXDIAG, the sound 1 tab says driver is not digitally signed.?
I might go ahead and reformat as I do want to go 64bit!

I dont think that the driver authentication is the issue, I think thats normal... something has changed... maybe a patch? Program update? But uninstalling all the Creative cr*p and re-installing should resolve it.
