Question Windows Experience Index question

After installing an extra GB of ram on my PC my RAM's score dropped from 4.5 to 4.4. I know this is not a significant drop, but I found it quite odd.

For the record, I installed an extra 1GB (2x512Mb) on top of another 2x512Mb

Can anyone explain why it may have dropped.

Is the new RAM branded? Branded RAM somtimes preforms better than a un-named stick of RAM.

The RAM WEI mostly comes from the speed and not the amount... so you should buy RAM with low RAS and CAS numbers. Your new RAM probably has higher numbers than your old stuff, so although it is still an upgrade, it is not an upgrade of better RAM.

A great for instance is my RAM vs my brothers. Both 2GB mine runs at 533 his at 800. I get 5.9 and he gets 5.4 because my numbers are 3-3-3-8 and his are 4-4-4-12 His PC still kicks mine though

Do a search on RAM performance if you want to find out more.

As stated by Crabby... performance numbers are very important... also, you should place the slowest ram first... this helps eliminate errors....

Okay, something really odd happened with WEI this week, it dissapeared completely from my machine AFTER I swapped the two sticks of RAM that were in my first slots with the two in the last slots like was suggested above, which was very strange.

Not strange at all, some times when NEW ITEMS are added or OLD items are REMVOED...the files indicate that ?? New system?? so unless it RUN WEI, there is no status.. rerun it ... nice way to play this is: shutdown and REMOVE your BOOT HD... and boot to USB or DVD... then shut down install the HD again.. and WEI is again needs to be re ran...
GADS I love this NEW BETA test OS... actually I feel I'm running several BETA TESTS at one time... 1. Vista, 2. REALTEK-Audio, 3. NVidia -Video 4. More than 1 - 3rd Party Programs to help/assist the first 3 BETA's.
