Kerio to scrap desktop firewall

Kerio will stop offering its Kerio Personal Firewall product as of Dec. 31 but will continue to support existing customers until the end of next year...Kerio is pulling out of the desktop firewall space because it can't compete with security suites that bundle a firewall with antivirus and spyware-fighting software, the company said...

*first Sygate gets bought by Microsoft and now this with Kerio...bad news...they both were excellent products and alternatives to ZoneAlarm etc.

Thumbs down You know, that just figures.

Almost every piece of software I like gets hosed in some way or another. I really like kerio's firewall, it's simple, but is able to be configured for advanced things. It's extremely stable, doesn't hog resources (6-17mb of ram), and reacts very quickly to input. I like it a lot, it doesn't interfere with things once you get it set the way you like it, and it's not easily hosed like some firewalls! So, now they quit making it, that just figures, I hate when that happens. Good thing it's latest release is good to go. Hopefully I can keep using it for a while. THIS SUX !!! :bigcry:

Thank goodness I still use the bloat free 2.1.5 version, which I much prefer. Firefox extensions do the rest.

most people say that 2.1.5 is still the best version and all the later versions were not as good

Kerio personal version 4.2 works great for me, I'm really sorry that they are going to discontinue it. I like it alot better than ZoneAlarm

Red face I'm using 4.0.16.

It's working great, it's never given me trouble. I use almost every feature it has too, so I'd say it's bloat free. Why do they have to either screw up, or discontinue every piece of software I like?!?!
