Soulseeker is also working on another great add-on. The TQ vault which will allow you to off-line store items. So if you want to save a couple of great items for later you can store them off-line and swap them with another character. Currently the only way to do that is to go on-line and find a thrustworthy player and trade with him, come back with another character and get back the items.

My crashes were so hard that they did not even generate the crash log! lol

So, I just changed to the 91.33 beta drivers. I had been avoiding them because some people complain that they create some blurriness. Well, they seem to fix the crash, but I am getting the blurriness also. I guess I will just live with it.

Don't forget guys that Dungeon Siege II: Broken World is due to be in-stores early next week.
I fired up DS II yesterday and ran around with Lightning Mage and my other party members (two melee fighters and a nature/ice mage) just to get a feel for the game again.
Considering the game's using a three year old engine it stacks up pretty well against TQ.

Amazing how much fun the game can be if you are a pure melee character. I always choose caster characters in RPG's but melee is pretty darn fun too. Especially the graphics when you hit 3 bad guys with a sword and they all fly in the air together!

BTW: bman released his TQVault applicaton:

http://www.titanquest.net/modificati...haracters.html

Dungeon Siege 2... played a bit of that but couldn't really get into it... I think I hated the save system in that game too... or maybe Oblvion came around the corner. Can't remember.

Well I picked up the game a few weeks ago and am loving it. I'm currently a Level 12 Spellbreaker. I have one blue item and one green sword. I love the setting of this game. I have yet to play MP yet though on it.

Mrs. TQ and I are enjoying Dungeon Siege II. While graphically it can't compare to sheer beauty of Titan Quest (I still find it difficult to refer to the game as "TQ" since it just confuses me) having party members you can outfit and configure is still a blast. Plus, monsters git blowed up real nice when everyone gangs up on them. I was disappointed to see that DS II:BW doesn't offer a wide screen mode but I have my HP set to detect when a game isn't widescreen and to set it so that the 4:3 aspect ratio is correctly displayed.
A good expansion and worth picking up if you already have DS II.

So I gather you are done with titan quest TQ?

I still find it hard to let go... I think I played though it 4 times or something... Trying to find the best loot and such...... Some of those new bosses you only find on epic/leg. are HARD!!!

4 weeks before I'll be heading to salt lake city for my well deserved vacation so I'm sure I'll be rested well enough (or not since I'll be walking a LOT) for NWN2.

say TQ: how was the save/die system of DS 2 again? I mean, you die: you have to walk 10 miles to get back to where you last were? You lose all your loot? Can you save where ever you want?

Can't remember exactly.. I think that turned me away from DS 2 when I played it for a bit.

If I recall, it is pretty much the same as in Titan Quest, except bosses/quest stuff doesn't respawn.

So, you can portal around (unlike DS1). If you save and exit, you will be sent back to the nearest save point when you restart and the monsters will respawn. But unlike Titan Quest, mini-bosses/quest bad guys won't respawn. Also, DS2 has the cool spell that allows you to turn unwanted items into gold. Makes the game flow a lot more for me, since I just zap stuff when I fill up instead of returning to town.

Well, compared to a true save anywhere system it blows. I've been spoiled by the FREAKING AMAZING DEMO FOR DARK MESSIAH OF MIGHT AND MAGIC.
Sorry about the caps but this game could well blow everything - including Oblivion - away.
Dark Messiah has a proper save anywhere system and it's a joy to use after Titan Quest and DS II: BW.

WhiteEclipse's description has the DSII:BW save system pretty well nailed. It's similar to that of Titan Quest.

As we've played the game, though it is fun, it's also a bit confusing finding one's way around as some quests are rather confused and poorly explained in the game. I'd say it worth a play but have a walkthrough or forum bookmarked for answers to questions that will come up.

Yeah, played a bit yesterday. Now I remember why I hated the save system so much when I played it earlier this year..

I'd say it is a lot different from Titan Quest's system where in TQ you don't loose your equpment which is vital in recovering your tombstones in DS2.

Me and my companion died like 3 times while being raided by a big mob... So we respawned, had to walk the entire path from the last portal to the place we died. Finding out that that mob was camping the corpses. Needless to say having no equipment at all (since you only get it back when you collect your tombstone) we died again, and again, walking... walking... dying... finally buying a 2nd spellbook and some gear and being able to kill the mob....

Only to die again at the 2nd mob... this time it was late at night and I had to get some rest... Okay, saved... Next day, reloaded... Heck, where is my equipment and my stone...

So either you complete a big part of a quest and save or you HAVE to keep on playing and make sure you do not die... Hmm.. I think I stated this last time. I cannot for the life of me understand why they would design a save system like that... If you were not to loose all your equipment (especially your spellbook) it would be more or less okay... So aside from the save system which blows big time you also loose your equipment to annoy you even more..

Maybe there is some mod/hack available which will change that.... Other than that it is a pretty nice game. Only problem is the max resolution is 1280x1024 which kind of sucks on my 24" widescreen..

End Rant....

I see what you mean. If I die and lose all my stuff I just reload my last save point and never deal with the hassle. That way I get to keep all my gear.
It isn't the best situation but the original game was enough fun so that I didn't object too it to strongly. Still, nothing beats a well designed save system, a weakness of both Titan Quest and DSII. It would seem that instead of going through all the time and effort spent on "designing" a save system developers would just let you save anywhere you want. Easier to do it would seem to me.
I think they lose sight of the fact that people - because real life intrudes on gaming - often can't put the time into making it to the next portal or rebirth fountain, yet they're forced to do so or otherwise lose all their hard-fought progress, all the while the situation that requires them to get off the game is standing over their shoulder tapping its foot impatiently. So, they just play by rote until they can get to the next predetermined save point.
Not fun.

I, too, was disappointed in the fact that a 16:9/16:10 widescreen resolution wasn't implemented.
