Re: Crysis

I heard this game was hacked rather badly BEFORE it was publicly released. And, there are several hack/cheat fixes in the notes which is always a bad sigh. Just imagine what they are NOT telling us.

Anyone got any patch feedback yet?

The developers of Crysis have heard your hardware complaints and designed a basic system which will run the game on high settings without costing an arm and a leg...

the folks at Crytek have put together a basic hardware specification which the team claims will run the game on 'High' settings without breaking the bank. Check out the machine specs below:

CPU - Intel Core2Duo E6750
GPU - GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
Motherboard - Nvidia nForce 650i Socket 775
PSU - 600W ATX12V
RAM - 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
HDD - SATA 250GB 7200RPM
DVD - 20x DVD±R Burner
Case - ATX Midi Tower Computer Case
OS - Microsoft Windows XP Home with SP2

Crytek has posted up a video of some game footage on the above machine, which you can check out...

Re: Crysis

Interesting - my humble sub-budget rig consistently gets >40FPS CPU/GPU at mostly high settings.

Re: Crysis

That review is so funny and so true on many points. This game is visually nifty but it is just not grabbing me yet.

That review was top notch.

I think that I have decided to put this game on my back self. I have so many games to play, I will just save it until after my next video card upgrade.

You think that was funny, have a look at his Jericho (Clive Barker) review.

I'm still annoyed about that game.

Re: Crysis

That Jericho review was pretty funny.
Totally disagreed with his review of The Witcher, though.

Re: Crysis

Well, that's interesting. I'd heard that sales were flat.

Yeah, and there's a good reason for that, most people don't have a decent system to play it..

Re: Crysis

The demo ran great for me on XP at 1680x1050 with everything on high (no AA, though).
Looked fabulous.
I suspect that its platinum sales are primarily from people with XP based systems. Still, someone's got to push the envelope with engines, otherwise I can't convince Mrs. TQ to upgrade our game machine every year...though I did get her to OK a recent 2x2GB DDR2 Mushkin Dual Pack purchase.

(She's been kind of warming up to Vista recently and understands that if we go there with the game box that we'll have to gut it...)

Re: Crysis

I think it's funny that after fifteen months I'm still running what is considered a high-end video card.
I've never had a card last as long at such a lofty perch as my 8800GTX.

I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.
