Did the aliens already got in and prevented the reactor to shut down properly? If so i guess you are trying to lower the three remaining rods manually. For this you have to go to the rods and use the "use"-key, while your suit is in "maximum strentgh" mode. (i died many times there cause i didn't think of switching suit modes).

try going back to the last save before that room...if that doesn't work go back 1 further or as a last resort to the beginning of that Carrier level (all new levels get Autosaved so even if you didn't manually save it at the beginning of the level it will still be saved there)

you're at the very end of the game so hopefully you can get things working and finish the game

I loaded up an old saved game and took a screen shot of that area you are having trouble with...there is a casing over the red button but once you enter that room and get close to the button the enginner will communicate with you and the casing will automatically open...then you have to get close up to the button until the 'Use' cursor pops up and then just activate it

there are a few bugs I read about (especially in the carrier level)...I experienced one where I just fell through the ground and died...but usually exiting the game to the desktop and loading it up again fixes it or loading up a previous save

I restarted the entire level and that *finally* resolved that bug with the reactor button - so I finished Crysis. I swapped out my 8800GTS 512 SLI setup for a single eVGA GTX 260 SSC, mostly because I needed the cards elsewhere and wanted the additional VRAM. What settings should I be able to use for 1920x1200?

I'm currently runing the game at 1600 x 1200, DX10 with AA= 2X and all graphical settings on 'Very High'

the game actually runs decent at 1920 x 1440 but I have to disable AA (and I always like to have some AA in any game I play)...never played it all the way through with those settings so don't know how the game will handle the later Ice levels which really taxes most video cards

so how do you like your new GTX 260 compared to the older 8800GTS?...me personally, I am very glad I upgraded as the higher resolutions and frame rates make it worthwhile

Re: Crysis

I've got a new 4870 X2 coming in and think I'll replay Crysis based on what you are seeing with an upgraded vid card.....

I liked that game a lot anyway......

I have Crysis set to 'High' for most settings and it appears to tax the card quite heavily. I may have other settings cranked up I don't know about. Haven't quite figured out all the intricacies of AA et al. I was expecting great things out of the 260 - mostly due to the added VRAM, but it really doesn't seem to deliver. In fact, I have a LOT of big lags when I load a new level in CoD5, or load any kind of new content. Afterwards it seems to run fairly well. I'm also VERY bugged that my HDMI only monitor is seen as an HDTV and I have to hack the .inf file of the driver to get it to display properly. I also lose the OC settings in NVCP, so I'll need to install the evga utility and hope that works.

Re: Crysis

I notice you guys running the game at different res's. How does it look when running outside of the native res of your monitors?

(I think that CRT's supported a range of res's that looked great, but LCD's tend to have only 1 res (native) that looks best.)

that's why I'm still using my 21' Sony CRT...beats any LCD for gaming performance...can choose as many resolutions as I want and not 'stuck' with only one native resolution...not to mention no input lag, ghosting, etc

I can play all games at 1920 x 1440 with AA on and all graphical settings maxed out with my new GTX 260 card except for Crysis which I have to lower to 1600 x 1200

awesome... I had a Sony CRT (17") for a long time on my gaming box and it delivered an excellent gaming experience...

but my Samsung SyncMaster LCD has a native res of 1680x1050 so I always run in that... looks great... but if I run it in a non-native res it tends to look slightly off

don't know why you're getting such lags in games...the GTX 260 should not be the cause (especially in a game which is not as graphics intensive as CoD5)...maybe it's another part of your system that is the bottleneck

I frequently reformat my hard drive so maybe that is why I rarely experience any system issues but the GTX 260 has been a huge improvement for me compared to my old 8800GT...you say you're only running Crysis at 'High' settings and experiencing issues means it's not even a DX10 issue...I'm running it at 'Very High' (DX10) + AA + all graphical settings maxed out with no issues at all...plus I like to adjust my temps using the EVGA Precision tool but the card does not get too hot even after a heavy duty Crysis session

try updating your drivers or running some CPU/video card benchmarks such as 3DMark Vantage, Prime95, OCCT, Memtest etc

I can see myself keeping the GTX 260 for a long time with no need to upgrade (unless DX11 really blows DX10 out of the water, which I doubt)

Just saying hi to a fellow WD VR RAID 0 user.

HI!

Notice how awesomely fast games load? Far Cry 2 doesn't go past the first loading screen and Crysis just shoots past the loading screen.

Re: Crysis

I'm just replaying Crysis for the sheer beauty of it and I'm currently on the "Assault" level which is where you have to take out some AA guns. Anyhow I'm on the last AA gun and am just completing a secondary objective to capture some KPA intelligience information... and its really creepy in this area in a surrealistic kind of way. All the KPA are dead, but I'm sure something is watching me.

There are lots of weird sound effects that seem to be everywhere such as metal clangs and bangs and human voices and things moving. But when I go searching I dont find any reason for them. I finally ran into the jungle just to get away from it and got into one of the alien magnetic fields... this area feels really creepy and with these sound effects very eerie ... but I've got to go back into the buildings to actually download the intelligience...
